Day 1 – Wood Islands/Brudnell
Arrive Prince Edward Island at Wood Islands Ferry Terminal. Follow the Points East Coastal Drive along the southeast tip of Prince Edward Island. This scenic route takes you through rich, rolling farmland, sandy beaches, charming villages and quaint harbours. Be sure to stop in for a tour of the island’s only winery in Little Sands. Drive alongside the Murray River and why not make a stop at one of the many provincial parks en route. Arrive Montague, a pretty town built on the beautiful banks of the Montague River. Overnight Brudnell.
Day 2 – Brudnell/Souris
This morning enjoy a fully narrated seal and bird watching cruise and see in season, harbour seals, native sea birds and porpoises. Depart Montague and drive via the Brudenell River Provincial Park and historic Georgetown and continue on the Points East Coastal Drive into the Bays and Dunes region of PEI. Beautiful white sand beaches cover most of the shoreline of this area all the way to Souris. Souris is an attractive, busy port town with many restaurants and craft shops. The town also has a rich French culture due to its close links and location to the Magdalen Islands. Overnight Souris.
Day 3 – Souris/Charlottetown
Depart early, you will need a full day to explore the remainder of the Points East Coastal Drive. Continue along the coastal loop taking in the ‘Singing Sands’ at Basin Head Beach, the East Point Lighthouse, Campbell’s Cove Provincial Park and St. Peter’s Bay en route to Charlottetown. Overnight Charlottetown.
Day 4 – Charlottetown
Today enjoy exploring the city of Charlottetown, retracing the steps of the Fathers of Confederation. Enjoy a Guided Walking Tour and find out what makes this capital city such a historic gem. Other suggestions are visiting Founders’ Hall – Canada’s Birthplace Pavilion or the National Historic Street called Great George. Maybe, take a boat cruise that will take you onto the waters of Hillsborough Bay for a sailor’s view of the city. Visit attractions further afield, such as the Fort Amherst-Port-La-Joye National Historic Site, which is located near Charlottetown Harbour and Victoria-by-the-sea, a storybook village with the soul of this historic fishing village that has been revitalized by the many artists and other creative people who call it home. Overnight Charlottetown.
Day 5 – Charlottetown/Brackley Beach
Depart Charlottetown and drive north through the Green Gables Shore to Brackley Beach. Enroute take time to visit the spectacular Prince Edward Island National Park. Overnight Brackley Beach.
Day 6 – Brackley Beach/Summerside
Today continue along the Green Gables Shore to Cavendish and enroute visit North Rustico. Cavendish is home of Anne of Green Gables and Avonlea – the village of Anne of Green Gables. Depart Cavendish for Summerside. Enroute stop at Indian River and view the dramatic church of St. Mary and continue on to Kensington and visit the old stone railway station – a National Historic Site. Follow the route into the Ship to Shore region. Overnight Summerside.
Day 7 – Summerside
Summerside is one of the newest cities in Canada and is rich in heritage and the stately homes grace the downtown residential core were once home to many a wealthy shipbuilder. Visit Spinnakers Landing, with an attractive waterfront area that has a lively boardwalk it allows visitors to shop and dine beside the ocean. Continue on to visit the North Cape Coastal Drive – This area offers a unique blend of the province’s best sightseeing, natural attractions, cultural experiences and engaging people. Overnight Summerside.
Day 8 – Summerside.
Depart Summerside for your onward journey.
