St Pierre and Miquelon are the French owned Islands, 15 miles south of Newfoundland. St Pierre, a lively harbour town, is the largest town the Isles and its streets are flanked by colourful houses, pastry shops and restaurants. Miquelon is the largest of the Islands and can be reached by boat from St. Pierre. The Island houses 700 people of mostly Acadian and Basque decent.

Day 1: Fortune

Depart from Fortune by ferry on your 1 hour 35 minutes crossing over to St. Pierre. Spend the afternoon at leisure discovering the delightful town of St. Pierre. Places to visit include the Pointe aux Canons Lighthouse, the Arche Museum and the Place du General de Gaulle on the waterfront. Overnight St. Pierre.

Day 2: St. Pierre

Explore this car free Island further by foot or rented bicycle or take the 70-minute boat over to Miquelon (payable locally). This Island has a rich and diverse landscape, visit the Notre Dame des Ardilliers church with pillars made from masts of a shipwreck. Also visit Grand Barachois to the south, which is a protected lagoon, home to many bird species and seals. Overnight St. Pierre.

Day 3: St.Pierre/ Newfoundland

Afternoon ferry departure from St. Pierre back to Fortune, Newfoundland.
